Responsible for creating and maintaining the data within the Kinder Morgan Pipeline Open Data Standard (KM PODS) Esri versioned geodatabase. The accuracy and integrity of the KM PODS geodatabase is upheld via adding new data, maintaining existing data, running daily quality checks, following KM PODS business process workflows, and working from the KM PODS procedures and technical guides. This role may work directly with, but not limited to, the following groups within Kinder Morgan: Compliance Systems, Risk Engineering, Drafting, Codes and Standards, ILI Integrity, Construction Management and Field Operations. Essential duties and responsibilities:
As-built pipelines from new construction and maintenance field activities.
Utilize data maintenance / as-builting applications to review, edit and approve data within a versioned Esri geodatabase.
Work from multiple electronic and hard copy engineering, field survey, inspection, and other approved source documents for as-built data capture. Sample source types are Field Reports, Alignment Sheets, Detail Drawings, Schematics, Survey Data, Weld Maps, Pressure Test Reports, Material Test Reports, Purchase Orders, and ILI Feature Listings.
Check all data for location accuracy, attribute completeness, and compliance as outlined in the KM PODS processes and technical procedures.
Run all KM PODS quality checks prior to loading working data records in the production database, per standard workflow.
Support data requests for internal and external customers as requested.
Participate in improving KM PODS working procedures and technical guides with other team members.
Provide data editing training as requested for other KM PODS and non-KM PODS analysts.
Position may be filled at various levels depending on the experience and job skills of the successful candidate
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements: Education:
Bachelor level Degree in GIS, Geography, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering or related field of study is preferred.
Associate's degree with extensive experience using ArcGIS software to maintain pipeline databases may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Experience / specific knowledge:
Fundamental knowledge of design, construction, operation of and regulatory requirements of gas or liquids pipelines.
Possesses clear understanding of pipeline linear referencing, engineering stationing/measures, equations, reversals and how pipeline integrity software handles referential integrity for operational and regulatory purposes.
Experience interpreting detail drawings and alignment maps, to reference location, and to extract dimension and material information for validation with other documents.
Experience interpreting hydrostatic pressure test reports and corresponding location documents.
Experience working with PODS Spatial, PODS Relational, ISAT, APDM or other types of pipeline data models.
Experience with records management environments.
Competencies, skills, and abilities
Desired, but not required, a fundamental knowledge of the construction of gas or liquids pipelines with working knowledge of CFR Part 192 and or 195.
Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve, (1) conflicting pipeline source documentation and (2) GIS and database management issues/problems.
Ability to be productive with minimal supervision, strong organizational skills to prioritize daily work to meet schedules and objectives and provide routine status updates.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written for successful interaction with other groups.

Proficient in Esri Desktop ArcGIS suite and working within an enterprise GIS environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Access, Word and Outlook. Required abilities within these applications include, but are not limited to, performing intermediate level formula calculations to perform tasks such as checking or developing pipeline stationing, creating documentation, and use as a communication tool.
Experience using Autodesk applications to view .dwg or .dwf files, specifically Design Review, True View or AutoCad.
Ability to write SQL queries is desirable, but not required.
Position may be hired as GIS Associate, GIS Coordinator or Sr. GIS Coordinator, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications, skill sets and experience.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:
Intermediate Esri GIS skills - Technical understanding and 3+ years of firsthand experience with Esri Desktop ArcGIS application suite.
Strong ability to interpret pipeline construction source records with 5+ years of as-builting with emphasis on natural gas transmission pipelines.
Ability to analyze ILI pipeline listing data to support pipeline routing, measurement between features and location of components.
Strong project coordination, planning and overall self-driven work management skills. A history of executing projects with challenging circumstances is preferred.
