This position is a member of the Operations Department. The Fabrication Specialist will report directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Machine product to required specification.
Set-up and operate saws, Waterjet, punch presses, sheet metal benders, and various hand tools to produce a product that meets or exceeds design specifications.
Reads blueprints and sets up and cuts material for proper angles, lengths, and close tolerance per bill of material.
Handles material in bulk length for set up in saw.
Produce weldments that meet Bartell standards and print specifications.
Interpret blueprints to determine best welding practices to produce products that meet specifications. Perform difficult and specialized electric, shielded arc and gas all position welding on a wide range of similar and dissimilar metals and alloys.
Provide welding support in other areas of the company when needed.
Assist various Bartell departments achieve deadlines by providing floor weld support on factory and customer orders.
Material
Receive material from dock assist in unloading and movement of materials to receiving. Verify counts and identify materials received. Record discrepancies and notify appropriate department accordingly: i.e. purchasing, accounting.
Maintain integrity of stockroom: ensure proper inventory balances based on input/output transactions, ensure proper location and identification of all materials in stockroom, provide timely and accurate reporting to material and accounting departments, provide audit trail documentation of transactions as required by production control and accounting.
When performing inventories, notify production control of any discrepancies and work with inventory control to rectify any discrepancies.
Must have expertise in various types of materials such as hot roll, cold roll, tool steel, aluminum, brass, alloys, etc.
Knowledge of speeds and feeds for cutting various metals.
Work Orders
Sort work orders by work center to maintain steady workflow to each work center throughout machine shop and welding departments.
Raw Material
Maintain inventory of raw materials and keep computer updated with materials on hand.
Job Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills & Relevant Work Experience
Fluency in English
ERP/MRP Systems knowledge; D365 is preferred.
The employee shall be able to set-up and run various machinery, including saws, shear, and sheet metal benders with little or no supervision. When direction is required, the employee should be able to seek out the proper personnel that will provide the direction.
Candidate should have good computer skills.
Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with powered industrial vehicles
Professional and positive attitude with the initiative to cooperate in a teamwork environment.
Responsible for all areas of proficiency in distribution, and stockroom control including receiving, inventory maintenance/distribution and shipping.
Unloads, trucks, inspects burnouts and works with Purchasing and vendor on rejections.
Inspection of raw material being received and determines rejection.
Makes decisions within parameters of job duties and responsibilities.
