The Role



By leveraging our industry expertise and data science, we help our clients to accelerate their performance in an ever-evolving marketplace. To support and execute our technology enabled business strategy, we are currently seeking an Application Architect.


The Application Architect will be responsible for providing in-depth solution architecture support for engineering teams to ensure technical roadmap alignment. The Application Architect will help align business solutions and product value delivery to our enterprise strategies, technology roadmap, and digital transformation.



Role
Responsibilities



  • Create and manage architectural blueprints that describe the strategy, business outcomes, capabilities, services, processes, information, and data that present the vision, goals, and strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate and work closely with multiple teams consisting of Engineering, Product Management, Research and Corporate IT teams, and external subcontractors and vendors to identify, select, and implement technology solutions that will meet business needs.

  • Define and refine methodology and standards for setup, design and implementation of the application or technology to meet the needs of the business and IT customers.

  • Analyze and evaluate emerging technologies and collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and development team leads to recommend solutions for improvement.

  • Generate detailed system requirements with cost projections, cost benefit analysis and ROI.

  • Develop and drive the standards, development processes, systems architecture, and design patterns to support technical and business solutions.

  • Guide and mentor agile teams on architecture, design, and integration of business software across multiple product platforms while making sure all application software is built with Performance and Scalability in mind.

  • Review current application software and processes to help mitigate technical debt and streamline processes to be more efficient and effective.

  • Evaluate technology trends like emerging standards for fresh technology opportunities. Conduct tests and POCs which could be used and applied in application development.

  • Develops solutions for the engineering team to deliver software with excellent quality and speed. Involved in designing and developing scaling strategies, automation scripts, and solutions to implement, streamline, and execute the software.

  • Work closely with various business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive the execution of multiple business plans & technologies.

  • Assist removing technical obstacles, help enhance team processes, handle resource issues, and interact with team members to assure sprint iteration and product release is successfully delivered.

  • Provide support for the completion of RFPs to support client sales and onboarding.

  • Mentor less experienced staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications



  • 15+ years of Application Software Development Experience.

  • 8+ years solutions architecture, design, system integration, implementation, and deployment in cloud technologies.

  • 10 years' experience of SQL and ERD with relational databases.

  • 8 years implementing API services REST SOAP, and GraphQL.

  • 5 years' experience developing solutions with NoSQL datastores.

  • 5 years' experience implementing data analytics, AI/ML/NLP, and predictive models.

  • Demonstrated experience in real world cloud-based, distributed, data driven applications.

  • Experience implementing a microservices architecture.

  • Experience developing software using OOD & OOP best practices.

  • Experience with containerization technologies including (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS: EKS, ECS, Fargate).

  • Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance.

  • Possess the AWS Solutions Architect certification.

  • Recent relevant experience implementing and deploying enterprise scale applications in AWS.

  • Well versed in Agile methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with senior business, leadership, and clients where applicable.

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Possess knowledge and experience in system Security and Identity integrations with SAML, Okta, etc.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in handling distributed data systems, e.g., Elastisearch, MongoDB, Spark, Hadoop.

  • Solid understanding of data integration, data modeling, data migration and data transformation pipelines or processes.

  • Ability to gather and build subject matter expertise via existing SMEs, research & exploration, code analysis & debugging, etc.

  • Ability to incorporate feedback from domain experts, make well-reasoned recommendations, and effectively communicate recommendations to stakeholders.


Technical Requirements



  • Essential to have sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure using AWS, including knowledge of their built-in services, such as S3, CloudFront, ECS/EKS, EC2, RDS, API Gateway and Cloud Formation.

  • Experience in architecture frameworks and standards.

  • Expertise designing and developing APIs.

  • Experience with API Management Services.

  • Expertise in microservice / PaaS based architectures.

  • Expertise in Relational database (strongly prefer Postgres, but any of MySQL, MSSQL).

  • Expertise in NoSQL Databases (such as Redis, MongoDB).

  • Expertise with application development language (require Python, but helpful to have any of Java, .NET, ruby, etc)

  • Expertise in front-end development languages such as Html, CSS, JavaScript and React.

  • Experience in JIRA and Confluence.

  • Experience using GitHub.

Pay Range Guidelines for this Position:
The salary range for this position is 16000 USD to 180000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Note: we have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
