The Admissions Representative is responsible for registration of patients, including interviewing patients and explaining hospital policies and services, as well as communicating information to various departments and physicians. This position acts as a liaison between financial services and the admissions department when emergency admissions, urgent admissions, or changes in the financial information to admissions require immediate attention. The Admissions Representative works in a dynamic environment and has the opportunity to interact directly with patients.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Admissions Representative is responsible for admissions/discharge/transfer data input in Cerner.
Provide support for the outpatient registrars if necessary.
Identifies carriers that fall under managed care.
Work with referral sources regarding services available.
Assists back up handling of routine referrals and problems solves issues related to inquiries and customer questions.
Provides support to clinical evaluators via faxing clinical evaluations, loading referrals and ensuring contact is made with the housing coordinator.
Monitors quality of admissions data and is responsible for modifying incorrect data.
Works as a Team player with other Admissions staff in providing full support to clinical evaluators via faxing clinical evaluations, loading referrals, ensuring contact is made with housing coordinator.
Forward information regarding emergency admissions, urgent admissions, or changes in the financial information to admissions that require immediate attention
Responsible for modifying incorrect data in Cerner.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
One (1) to two (2) years of college preferred.

Five (5) to six (6) years of hospital front line experience.
Experience ins automated systems.
Overall knowledge of business office procedures and hospital policies.

Type 30-40 wpm accurately, familiar with general office equipment- fax machine, calculator, copier, imprinted and embower.
Five (5) to six (6) years' experience with hospital computerized programs.
