Under general supervision of a Sr. Engineer, the intern will work On-Site in Baldwin Park, CA in a variety of assignments to provide general support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality Systems Management, and Safety.

Responsibilities/Duties
Provide engineering services for complex problems under direct guidance of an engineering mentor.
Create and update models and drawings in SolidWorks.
Provide daily project or emergency support to engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, or maintenance departments.
Act as a team leader for engineering projects or short-term production support projects.
Assist with the completion of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
Participate in GEMBA walks to observe processes, engage with employees, and identify opportunities for improvement, as part of our Lean management and continuous improvement practices.
Participate in Plant Safety initiatives, compliance, and improvement.
Collaborate with departmental managers and team members to understand existing processes and workflows. Conduct thorough assessments to identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and areas for standardization.
Assist in the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Develop detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Education
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University/College Engineering program.
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, or other manufacturing related engineering program.
Must be a Junior or higher-level student.
Required Qualifications
Proficient computer skills
Some level of SolidWorks
Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency.
Desired Skills - experience in some of these fields is attractive.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365: SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, Outlook, TEAMS
Self-driven and proactive
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Team player and willing to collaborate with others on projects.
Must be hands-on and willing to learn how to use equipment and tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Industry
Manufacturing: commercial, and residential building materials and systems.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
Office: Typical of an office environment; however, extended periods may be spent sitting at a computer workstation.
Factory Floor: Significant time will also be spent working on the factory floor requiring extended periods of standing, walking, and light lifting.
Travel: Not Required
Special Work Conditions: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn when on the factory floor.
