Position SummaryThe Field Engineer has direct responsibility for the craft survey crew(s) to precisely layout temporary and permanent structures needed for the construction project(s). The Field Engineer is responsible for keeping the Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager accurately and fully informed of the survey aspects of the project(s), particularly with layout and as-built data. Tasks and responsibilities of the Field Engineer shall be described in a listing of project-specific duties as prepared by the Project Manager and/or Project Superintendent. Key Responsibilities
Become thoroughly familiar with the project drawings and specifications (including the general conditions), Owner Contract, and subcontracts. Maintain a thorough understanding of all the contract documents.
Setup jobsite with required control points needed for all surveying work.
Understand survey equipment needed for different tasks and jobsites. Coordinate equipment needs with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
Review construction schedules and directly manage survey crew schedules to follow.
Build and maintain jobsite model (CAD) with any RFI changes.
Provide survey crews with all information needed for site layout.
Collect as-built data from survey crews and keep project team informed with all as-built information.
Actively participate in the planning, execution, and management of self-perform work. Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work.

Assist in the leadership of the quality program. Identify and encourage new methods and procedures to be implemented in the field. Assist in work plan meetings and advise in monitoring the quality program. Assist the project team in improving quality in all tasks.
Coordinate, encourage, and monitor the training of the survey crew (Party Chiefs, Instrument Men, Rodmen) working directly for the Field Engineer.
Project a positive public and community image of McCarthy at all times.
Qualifications
Knowledge of survey equipment
Understanding of construction project schedules
Ability to create and review red line drawings
Strong communication skills
Safety oriented mindset
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering is a plus
