DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provides input into the development of sub-system and assembly level product requirements. Translates requirements into design specifications.

  • Interacts with software, systems, and electrical engineering functions to develop comprehensive solutions to design problems.

  • Utilizes Design for Six Sigma and other structured processes to ensure robust product performance and predictable project execution.

  • Executes the design of mechanical components, assemblies and subsystems of medical diagnostic instrumentation.

  • Completes design projects within established schedules and budgets.

  • Prepares cost estimates and designs products to meet cost targets.

  • Prepares and participates in design reviews. Thoroughly assesses the ability of proposed designs to meet specified requirements, including manufacturability.

  • Characterizes design performance through analysis or empirical testing and documents results.

  • Generates engineering drawings and specifications to division standards, including ASME Y14.5M-2018 Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

  • Prepares documentation, utilizes internal systems, and works closely with Operations to insure timely and efficient design transfer to production.

  • Conforms to the requirements of ISO and cGMP standards for the design and development of medical devices.






MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or associated discipline required.






PREFERRED QUALIFACATIONS



  • Demonstrated application of engineering principles and techniques, including statics, strength of materials, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and kinematics and dynamics as applied to automation machine design preferred.

  • 2 years engineering experience strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of creating requirements, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and writing reports for medical or scientific diagnostic equipment preferred.

  • Strong technical judgment and problem solving skills preferred

  • Minimum 2 years experience of solid modeling CAD applications with large assemblies for new product development preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a root cause analysis, including data interpretation, and corrective action mitigation with complex systems preferred.

  • Design for Six Sigma Practioner training preferred.

  • Product development experience in a regulated industry is preferred.

  • Medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry experience, with a strong record of delivering products to market or developing commercially viable technology is preferred.
