Position Summary
The Ready Mix Instructor positions reports to the Plant Manager and will be in a role of secondary supervision. Primary functions are to coordinate Ready Mix driver training and assist with safe and timely Ready Mix deliveries.
Requirements
Demonstrates a good working knowledge of Martin Marietta/Ready Mix Rules and Regulations and assures facility compliance with OSHA, DOT, TxDOT, TNRCC, EPA and other regulatory agencies
Trains new/existing employees to operate a Ready Mix truck safely and efficiently adhering to The Department of Transportation (DOT) and Martin Marietta rules and regulations
Exercises good judgment in identifying and evaluating all Ready Mix operators
Develops curriculum required for driver training
Selects driver mentors to assist with training
Ability to evaluate drivers and personalize training to meet drivers needs
Provides instructions on procedures to perform daily preventative maintenance inspections and maintain accurate records on vehicles
Required to follow all safety policies and procedures and promote a 24/7 Safe Culture
Train in the use of all required safety equipment; including personal/vehicle safety equipment, glasses, hardhat, steel toed shoes/boots, triangles, fire extinguisher, etc.
Facilitates, organizes and actively participates in all in-house safety meetings
Demonstrates good knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures
Conduct job site hazard assessment, and make corrective actions.
Exercises good judgment and communication regarding job site safety, access, unloading and operation to and from plant
Maintains good customer relations on job sites
Maintains all DOT required paperwork
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Desired 2 years of experience operating a Ready Mix Truck
Possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Required
Smith System Trainer Certification(Ability to obtain within 6 months)
ACI Field Testing Certified (preferred or must be obtained within 120 days from date of hire)

Physical Requirements
Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
Demonstrate neck range of motion within normal limits (flexion and extension 60°, lateral flexion 40 and rotation 70°)
Lift objects of various dimensions and weights
Ability to operate hand controls with both hands
Ability to operate foot pedals with both feet
Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
Ability to use vibration tools
Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather
Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 9 feet
Working Conditions
Majority of time is spent in an outside setting that may require various periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. On occasions, time will be spent in an office environment. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and Monday thru Saturday schedule.
