Outplacement Practicum Coordinator for Graduate Programs in Mental Health Counseling



The University of Miami, School of Education and Human Development, and the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies (EPS) invite applications for a non-tenure track, 12-month part-time (.5 FTE) Assistant Educator Faculty position for our master's in counseling program. The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology (counseling, clinical, or school) or counselor education, and licensure or license eligible as a psychologist in Florida. Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate students is required. Ideally, the candidate has knowledge of clinical and non-clinical practice sites across South Florida in multiple settings. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching, practice, and service are grounded in an appreciation of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and who will maintain the high standards of excellence of the program.

The ideal Assistant Educator Faculty will teach EPS682 (Practicum in Counseling) each semester and ensure a high-quality experience for MHC program.


Key responsibilities for include:


  • Teaching students enrolled in EPS682

  • Preparing students for practicum placements, matching them with suitable sites, and keeping effective communication with both students and site supervisors during the placement process

  • Hosting regular check-in meetings with master's students in fall, spring, and summer semesters to offer individualized support when they face challenges or issues at their practicum sites

  • Collaborating with practicum site supervisors to ensure students receive well-rounded training and professional experiences, addressing any site-related concerns to sustain a positive learning environment

  • Monitoring student progress in their practicum placements and providing timely updates to faculty members and program leadership as necessary

  • Collecting and analyzing feedback from students and site supervisors to evaluate the quality of practicum experiences for accreditation and ongoing improvement purposes

  • Proactively seeking and forming new practicum site partnerships, building and reinforcing relationships with external stakeholders to broaden placement options for students

  • Ensuring practicum sites comply with program standards, legal and ethical guidelines, and institutional and accreditation requirements

  • Mentoring students on professional conduct, clinical expectations, and ethical responsibilities within the practicum setting

  • Regularly reviewing and refining the outplacement process to align with evolving educational standards, student needs, and accreditation criteria

  • Engaging in a wide range of scholarly activities at the nexus of scholarly research, policy, and clinical practice such as writing policy statements, technical reports, and practitioner-oriented books and/or articles, evaluating internal and external programs, and engaging in informed public dialogue on social issues



Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are desired as is the ability to form collaborative relationships with a broad range of site personnel that will enhance the capacities and visibility of students in the Department of Education and Psychological Studies.
