Job Description Summary
The Office of Religious and Ethnic Inclusion (Title VI) seeks a proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented Program and Case Manager. Interim President Larry Jameson announced the establishment of this Office - the first of its kind nationally - in September 2024. Reporting to the Directors of the Office, the Program and Case Manager will provide high-level administrative, program, and case support to ensure that Penn can continue to protect its community from discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, shared ancestry, or national origin - including antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of religious and ethnic intolerance.

Job Description


Job Responsibilities




General



  • Work with the Director(s) and Investigator(s) in the Office to offer supportive measures, connection with resources, and information about process options to individuals impacted by discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, shared ancestry, or national origin - including antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of religious, panels and ethnic intolerance; and

  • Serve as liaison with campus partners, including with the Title IX Office, Office of General Counsel, Provost's Office, various Deans' Offices, Office of Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity Programs, University Life, Student Intervention Services, Special Services, Restorative Practices at Penn, the Office of the Ombuds, Human Resources, Faculty Affairs, and the Confidential Resource Offices, among others.



Programs and Projects



  • Support the development and delivery of new programs and strategies to support an educated, respectful, diverse community on Penn's campus;

  • Coordinate with and assist colleagues to ensure events, meetings, and programs are executed seamlessly;

  • Help prepare, schedule, and coordinate trainings (and related materials) for various members of the Penn community; and

  • Schedule, prepare materials for, and coordinate outreach surrounding educational events (e.g., panels, speakers, screenings, etc.) on behalf of the Office;



Case Management



  • Monitor all incoming reports of discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, shared ancestry, or national origin - including antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of religious and ethnic intolerance;

  • Greet walk-ins and handle complaint intakes;

  • Coordinates responses and outreach efforts with other members of the Office as appropriate;

  • Compile completed case files and distribute appropriately;

  • Working with the Office Investigator(s), document progress on cases in filing system (including tracking items for action and resolution); and

  • Compile completed findings memos and distribute appropriately;



Administrative Support



  • Perform varied administrative support duties for the Office, including preparing and distributing agendas, cataloging action items, and coordinating the responses and outreach efforts with the Director(s) and Investigator(s), as appropriate and;

  • Manage complex calendars, coordinate meeting details, and provide high-level administrative support for the work of the Office;



Other Duties



  • If requested, work directly with the Office of General Counsel to provide paralegal-type support on assignments related to the work of the Office but technically falling outside its purview (e.g., inquiries, investigations, and lawsuits related to alleged Title VI violations);

  • Manage, coordinate, and contribute to other projects as designated by the Director(s);

  • Assists with unforeseen priorities; and

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications



Required Education & Experience



  • A Bachelor's Degree with 3 to 5 years progressively responsible related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, as well as prior experience in a support role, case management, and/or project coordination is required. Prior experience in higher education is preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
