Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Stay up-to-date on the latest machine learning and deep learning algorithms that power Personalization on Walmart's website and stores. Stay proficient on big data technologies such as Hive and Map-Reduce framework, build algorithms to be able to handle massive amounts of data generated on the web, and make data-driven inferences at scale. Work with the latest data science and software engineering technologies being used within the Personalization team such as but not limited to Python, Hive, Map-Reduce framework, Bash scripting, and Machine Learning packages such as Scikit-Learn and Numpy. Work with other team members in Personalization data engineering, modeling team, and web services to deliver key projects. Adhere to the best practices for software development such as coding styles, code reviews from peers, continuous build with Jenkins, and integrated deployment with OneOps. Design different components in Personalization backend systems, from data collection to enabling machines to make data-driven decisions at scale, thus building highly scalable and relevant solutions to drive key business projects. Develop new machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to achieve the business goal. Clearly articulate work and document, track, and present accomplished tasks through tools such as Jira, Github, and Confluence. Analyze customer and member data to build state-of-the-art models to provide a personalized shopping experience and improve customer engagement across all platforms.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience implementing and building production pipelines using Python. Experience processing big data using Hive, Hadoop, and Spark. Experience with data visualization with modern plotting frameworks including ggplot2, matplotlib, and Tableau software. Experience with statistical programming using R and SQL. Experience with data and statistical analysis using SPSS and JMP. Experience working with public cloud-based technology. Experience with fundamental Machine Learning algorithms including classification, regression, and clustering. Experience with deep learning models including CNNs, RNNs, and LSTMs. Experience building machine learning and deep learning models using Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, and Pytorch. Experience analyzing time-series data and developing demand forecasting models using Transformer and Conv-LSTM. Experience evaluating and comparing Machine Learning models using statistics, simulation, and hypothesis tests. Experience using JIRA, Bash, and Github. Experience reducing dimensions of large-scale data using Autoencoders. Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
