The AV Manager is responsible for the long-range vision, strategic planning, day-to-day operations, and delivery of conference and event technical services for the Office of Event Services. This position oversees the maintenance, inventorying, upgrading, and delivery of lighting, audio, and video equipment for 2 dedicated performance venues, 26 meeting rooms, and off-site programs utilizing Union lighting, video, and audio gear. They collaborate with the Director of Event Services to provide effective AV event support, stay up to date with technology trends, and manage the hiring, training, and supervision of 25 student AV staff. This position works within the larger team of the Office of Event Services and communicates on a regular basis at meetings, on Carolina Union scheduling platform, via email, and MS Teams regarding event support needs and production updates.
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
* Experience working in a college union environment.
* Knowledge of the operation of audio, video and lighting equipment used in live productions and conferences.
* Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical training.
* Knowledge and skill with computer applications such as reservations software, word processing, and electronic mail is essential.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills including leadership, attention to detail, professionalism, initiative, teamwork, a positive attitude, and an ability to relate successfully with customers representing a wide variety of backgrounds and interests.
* Demonstrated experience in management, event planning, and part-time staff supervision.
* Ability to make quick, informed decisions based on established policies; adapt to changing situations as needed.
* Valid NC Driver's License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Driver's License.
* Experience supervising full-time employee.
* Experience in the technical direction of events and conferences.
* Demonstrated ability to manage high volume of assets across multiple venues.
* Eexperience in a higher education setting.
* Familiarity with Extron/Crestron technologies.
* Proficiency with 25Live platform or similar software.
Valid NC Driver's License or eligibility to hold a valid NC Driver's License.
Ability to move 50+ pounds, with or without accommodation, on an infrequent basis.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
