The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 40 National Cancer Institute (NCl) designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. Position Summary:

The Executive Assistant will provide comprehensive executive-level administrative, office and personnel support to the Director of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at UNC Chapel Hill, who also serves as the Chief of Oncology Services for the UNC Health System. This role is crucial in supporting the Director's leadership and management of the center's strategic initiatives, operations, and research programs. Executive-level administrative responsibilities of the position will include managing the Director's calendar, ensuring seamless coordination of schedules, organizing meetings, preparing detailed reports and presentations, and serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. The individual will also help to ensure smooth project coordination and seamless execution for key programs within the Cancer Center. The Executive Assistant will be responsible for assimilating and composing professional oral and written communication and must be familiar with various technical platforms used for remote and in-person meetings. This position will be responsible for all financial and organizational responsibilities related to events and travel, including but not limited to: planning and securing venues to host events, coordination of arrangements for events (food/beverage, audio and video technology, space acquisition), as well as travel arrangements. This position requires a high level of professionalism and discretion in a fast-paced and dynamic academic medical setting.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational problem-solving skills while demonstrating sound judgment in decision-making.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience planning and organizing meetings and events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

- Executive administrative and programmatic support experience in large, dynamic academic medical setting is preferred.
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize and triage emergent and time-sensitive issues with little to no oversight.
