Dr. Ming-Feng Hsueh's lab at UNC-Chapel Hill (https://www.med.unc.edu/cellbiophysio/directory/ming-feng-hsueh-phd/) is seeking a highly motivated Research Specialist with a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field (master's degree preferred). The position focuses on research investigating the repair of injured musculoskeletal tissue and includes both hands-on laboratory work and administrative responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Conduct wet lab research, including collection and processing of human specimens, isolation of single cells, and performing downstream experiments.
* Apply techniques such as in vitro culture, nucleic acid and protein assays, and flow cytometry (analyzer/sorter).
* Manage daily lab operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
* Provide administrative support to the principal investigator, including assisting with scheduling, communications, and other organizational tasks.
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Experience in in vitro culture. Ability to maintain professional ethics. Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and possess good problem-solving skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Candidate must have communication skills, both oral and written, which are required for interacting with colleagues. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to balance research and management tasks effectively.
Experience working in research environment. Experience in animal study. Familiarity and interest in RNASeq and proteomic technique in an academic setting. Experience in R. Able to communicate effectively with people. Able to assist PI with grant proposal preparation.
