The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) oversees, develops, supports, and grows UNC-Chapel Hill's $1 billion research enterprise. The offices reporting to the OVCR set strategic priorities for research, manage proposals and awards, provide research infrastructure, identify funding opportunities, develop research teams and partnerships, oversee regulatory compliance, and communicate the impact and value of the University's research enterprise. The OVCR enables research endeavors for faculty, students, and scholars; encourages interdisciplinary research collaboration across campus; and fosters expansion and diversification of the University's sponsored research portfolio by collaborating with foundations, federal agencies, corporations, and the state and federal governments. The Vice Chancellor for Research also oversees multiple pan-University, multidisciplinary research centers and institutes.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The primary purpose of the Admin Support Specialist position is to provide project coordination and management support for operational projects related to resource allocation. This position will also offer administrative support for the day-to-day operations of several offices located within Carolina Square and back up support to other members of the Office of Vice Chancellor for Research's administrative support team such as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research. This position will also manage the front desk at the Carolina Square on a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week working in the office. Duties include but are not limited to evaluating division-wide resource usage; planning and executing on strategic plans to reallocate resources; organizing and maintaining parking and suite access management; managing general office needs for multiple departments; liaising with building management for repairs and other needs; assisting in coordinating and managing schedules/calendars as needed; and assisting with on-boarding and new employee orientation/trainings.
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

* Working knowledge of PeopleSoft/ConnectCarolina
* Understanding of the roles and responsibilities at a large, research university with a complex research portfolio
