Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.


Position Summary:

Manages the daily operations of the Office of Clinical Operations as well as serving as the gatekeeper for the Associate Dean for Clinical Operations. The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing clerical, administrative, reporting, and project support to the Office of Clinical Operations. Serves as the primary point of contact for external and interdepartmental inquiries for the Associate Dean. Independently handles matters as appropriate to preserve the Associate Dean's time for higher priority issues. This individual must pay close attention to detail and understand the levels of consequences and impact that errors would have.


This position must operate independently, crafting/coordinating communications, events, and meetings with the general public, students, university administrators, and faculty. The executive assistant also represents the Associate Dean for Clinical Operations in key internal and external meetings. Collegiality, accuracy, organization, and confidentiality are of utmost importance.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

This position requires a professional individual with exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) and a professional demeanor, who is also service oriented, able to multitask, and has the ability to remain calm and personable in extremely stressful situations. This position must be skillful in organizing, planning and managing administrative activities. The ability to analyze and interrupt policies and guidelines is important, as well as knowledge of administrative office work processors.
