THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED APPOINTMENT WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.
The Nguyen Lab in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy in the Division of Pharmacoengineerig seeks a motivated Research Technician/Animal Technician to join our research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting animal studies and test new therapeutics. The role involves significant teamwork, collaborating closely with fellow researchers and lab members to achieve common goals and drive innovative research forward.
Learning opportunities include gaining experience in the design and execution of animal studies, learning about pharmacokinetics and therapeutic efficacy in preclinical models, exploring nanoparticle formulation and protein therapeutic development, and, if desired, candidates also have the opportunity to learn molecular cloning and other techniques.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Proficiency in handling rodents and performing routine animal procedures
- Experience with various routes of injection and oral gavage
- Familiarity with animal welfare regulations and ethical guidelines
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
- Experience with tissue collection and processing
- Prior experience with orthotopic cancer models is highly desirable
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong aseptic technique skills
- Surgical skills in rodents
