Established in 1985 by Frank Hawkins Kenan, the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise is a nonpartisan business policy think tank affiliated with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. The video producer is responsible for shooting, editing, and producing a wide range of videos which include static and motion graphics for the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise (KIPE). Serving on the frontlines of the Institute's marketing and storytelling strategy, the role requires a creative storyteller with the technical aptitude who is able to produce more than 100 videos per year ranging in length, tone, aim and style to bolster the understanding of the work of the Institute. Duties include managing interviews, storyboards, project budgets as well as identifying locations, cast & voiceover talent. As the project manager, the role will also manage the solicitation and vetting of vendor requests for proposals as needed to support their work. The position must prioritize complex work assignments to ensure timely completion of projects, resulting in impactful stories ranging from those promoting events and programs to nuanced explorations, highlighting the thought leadership of KIPE's in-house and affiliated subject matter experts. Reporting to the External Affairs Assistant Director, the position will collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain graphic content that illustrates trends and concepts.
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Must have a background in video storytelling and have previously self-project managed assignments from concept development to the production of videos which included static and motion graphics on time and within budget. Occasional work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and travel, will be required. Examples of current technology includes DIGIC 4 image processors, audio and video sensors, wireless GO's transmitters (TX)/receivers (RX) , local/cloud-based video sharing platforms, LED, teleprompter, and streaming technologies. Examples of our current smart equipment includes Black Magic Cinema Camera 6K,Canon c100, Canon Rebel t3i, Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 EF, Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 EF Mount, RODE Wireless GO II Lavalier Microphone System, Amaran COB 200d S Daylight LED Monolight and Aputure Nova P300c RGB LED Light Panels. Incumbent must have experience in the above or similar technologies.
*Experience creating data and concept visualizations in post-production.
*Comfort with digitizing and incorporating archival video materials.
Ability to lift and move 25 lbs., climb a ladder, and stand for long periods of time.
