Earlham College is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of History/AAAS to join our team.




Job Summary:



The Department of History and the African and African American Studies Program at Earlham College seek applicants for a visiting assistant professor of African American History who are well grounded in the epistemologies and ontologies of the Black experience. We invite candidates who study any time period of U.S. history, and whose work uses regional, hemispheric, and/or transnational geographic frameworks. This position is renewable for up to three years.




Responsibilities:



  • Teaching load is 2-3. The faculty member is expected to teach two courses in the fall semester and three courses in the spring semester, totaling five courses throughout the academic year

Qualifications


Qualifications:



  • Ph.D.s and ABDs in the discipline of History will be considered. We also encourage Ph.D.s and ABDs in Ethnic Studies, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and other related interdisciplinary fields to apply.



  • A successful candidate will have demonstrated an interest in teaching history and in historical research methods.
