Associate Dean, Healthcare Programs and Partnerships

Salary
$71,508.00 - $80,172.00 Annually

Description
The position is responsible for assisting with administrative responsibilities including initial and ongoing program accreditations, ensuring educational quality, supervising continuous improvement activities, development and implementation. The Associate Dean will provide strategic leadership of programming, in both the curriculum and continuing education, including leadership and program design.

Examples of Duties
Essential Functions: 

Maintain six hours of instruction in the healthcare programs and technologies department.
Work with health care systems/agencies, colleges and universities, and global partners to advance the integration of evidence-based practice, to advance research, scholarship, practice, and educational initiatives in clinical practice.
Collaborate with directors and clinical coordinators in the oversight of clinical experience objectives, internships, and apprenticeships to ensure all practice sites provide educational opportunities that meet academic clinical experience standards.
Collaborate with business and industry partners, as well as sister institutions in support of education and training programs, and effective partnerships.
Coordinate with program directors in organizing and implementing effective program advisory committees. 
Enhance continuous innovation efforts, including advising, technology application, curriculum development, and academic projects.
Enhance master scheduling efforts for courses within the division.
Maintain office records in accordance with College and NCCCS policies; process reports, forms, schedules, contracts and other administrative records in an accurate and timely manner.
Employ a collaborative leadership style which encourages teamwork with peers and supervisors. 
Participate in annual action and assessment plans, and program reviews. 
Assist with recruiting and orientation of adjuncts and full-time faculty.
Marginal Functions: 
Supervise employees in conjunction with special projects, off-site center activities, and program improvement. 
Participate in college committees and activities or college-related communities and events. 
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Healthcare Programs and Technologies
Qualifications and Working Conditions
Knowledge of: 

Principles and techniques of instruction, including the use and implementation of the UDL framework.
Principles and techniques of implementing diversity, equity, inclusion within courses and programs. 
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Principles and techniques involved in assessment.
Safe work practices and procedures.
Operational characteristics of equipment and tools used in the area of work assigned.
The mission, goals, and objectives of CCC&TI.
Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  
Ability to: 
Interpret and apply college and assigned division goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Contribute to the teaching and learning of mission, goals, and objectives which complement those of the college.
Interpret and apply Federal, State, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Follow all safety rules and regulations of the department.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Operate a variety of mechanical equipment safely and effectively.

Environmental Conditions: 
The associate dean should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office, classroom workspace, and working closely with others.
 
The associate dean must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies and ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment. 
 
Physical Conditions:

Physical and marginal functions require the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following, standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.
 
The associate dean must maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
 
Additionally, the associate dean must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and personnel.
 
Scheduling Conditions:

This is a full-time, 12-month position that requires the employee to be on campus or at an approved alternate location for at least thirty-six hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm, and Friday, 8:00am-12:00pm. This position generally works daytime hours but has the potential for occasional evening or weekend hours.
 
Traveling Conditions:

Local travel between the Caldwell campus, Watauga campus, or any off-campus sites may be needed. Out-of-state travel is limited but may be required for training and conferences.
Experience and Training
Experience:
Five years of full-time teaching experience, or a part-time teaching equivalent is required.
Three years of progressive administrative/leadership experience in a post-secondary setting is preferred.
Prior experience developing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating seated, and hybrid/online classes; and with online learning management systems.

 Training:
 A Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or Allied Health with credential in area of expertise from an accredited college or university is required.
