Job Summary:
The Director of the Emergency Department assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care and all staff activities for the Emergency Department including the Stroke Program, Trauma program and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program.
The Director maximizes resource utilization and achieves organizational objectives through continuous improvement and process evaluation for cost effective care and quality clinical outcomes. It is expected that the Director ensures compliance with established organizational, professional and accreditation standards and state/federal laws and regulations.
In programs with coordinators in place, the Director supports those leaders in addressing personnel, patient, and operational issues that escalate. The Director manages patient care operations and directs and coaches staff in personnel and patient care processes.

Desired Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from accredited Nursing Program. Bachelor's degree preferred or may substitute year for year experience. Master's degree desirable.
License(s): State of Alaska Registered Nurse
Certification(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, PALS, TEAM/BERT within 90 days of hire, ENPC within one year of hire, TNCC within one year of hire.
Experience(s): A minimum of five years of current acute care nursing experience. Two years of supervisory/management experience.

Originally known as St. Ann's Hospital, the hospital opened in 1886 and was operated by the Sisters of St. Ann until the 1960s. In 1965, the hospital's operations were turned over to the City and Borough of Juneau, and a new facility was built at the hospital's present location on Hospital Drive.
Bartlett Regional Hospital is licensed for a total of 57 inpatient beds and 16 residential substance-abuse treatment facility beds in the Rainforest Recovery Center. The hospital serves a 15,000-square-mile region in the northern part of Southeast Alaska. Approximately 55,000 people reside in our service area, with most communities inaccessible by road.
