Alphagary an Orbia business, is looking for a Quality Supervisor to be based at our Massachusetts facility in Leominster, USA!

Job Summary/ Purpose


  • Responsible for ensuring communication and achievement of, & adherence to established quality standards for products. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of our reputation and image in the marketplace. You will supervise a group of Quality Technicians, who in-turn will provide inspection and testing services to the Plant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain, ensure and adhere with all safety procedures. Promote and ensure technicians complete near miss/substandard condition reports when observations are made within the QA laboratory or facility.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of quality standards, procedures and testing methods for all products and materials. Ensure quality standards and procedures are effectively and clearly communicated, and standards are maintained. Assist in the development of quality system and procedures, to ensure maintaining of accreditation of ISO9001 and other standards.
  • Ensure QA technicians are trained in standards and attention is given to quality requirements in both development and production of products. Develop and monitor the performance of staff, taking appropriate remedial action where performance deviate.
  • Maintain cost-effective monitoring of quality (raw materials and production), ensure timely feedback to relevant production management where variations from standards occur and provide advice or necessary action where appropriate.
  • Ensure appropriate testing methods, procedures and facilities are updated and maintained. Maintain quality data, specification and records to provide data base and metrics. Ensure quality machines/equipment are maintained and calibrated. Work with the staff responsible for calibration when equipment is found to be outside the calibration specifications.
  • Assist all operating units to ensure speed and, maintenance of quality levels and minimization of defective material/products. Recommend ways of improving quality. Disposition non-conforming product with input of management. Track all non-conforming products to report the results. Identify and perform key tests when suspect product is identified so manufacturing adjustments may be made to minimize the level of non-conforming material placed into inventory.
  • Act as an internal auditor for IMQS and carry out corrective action effectiveness reviews.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Prior experience utilizing statical tools for data analysis and metrices tracking.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Good leadership skills with the ability to build teamwork in department and cross functionally.
  • Ability to coach and mentor direct reports and provide constructive and or negative feedback as necessary. Ability to follow through as needed when further actions are required.
  • Proficient in MS office tools including excel.

Knowledge/ Experience Required


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/Plastic Engineering, related science or technology preferred.
  • 3-5 years of process and product quality experience including auditing and supervision.
  • Previous Quality experience in a manufacturing environment with ASQ certification strongly preferred.
  • Current knowledge of quality systems, procedures and philosophy.
