The Intermediate Buyer is responsible for procuring raw materials and value-added services that are utilized in Cooper Standard products. They will do so by having a thorough understanding of their commodity, the cost drivers, and the supply base's capability. In parallel, the individual must ensure that their decisions are aligned with the regional/global commodity strategies that they've established and communicated to the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Execute and sustain your commodity strategies and work cross functionally with Manufacturing, Sales and Engineering.
Understand key market dynamics and commodity trends including raw materials to validate cost competitiveness.
Understand the cost drivers and the elements of the unit price for your commodities to assist with price negotiations
Identify lean savings projects through supply chain and operations involvement; participate in cross functional teams as necessary to realize lean savings.
Manage supply base with respect to their ability to provide products and services in accordance with the organization's business requirements, cost parameters, terms and agreements.
Develop and sustain relationships with key internal and external customers.
Assist in annual supplier business reviews focused on strengthening strategic relationships to improve key Cooper Standard metrics.
Support the resolution of critical supply chain issues and maintain supplier relationships.
Maintain commercial documents as needed
Education and Qualifications:
3+ years relevant experience.
Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or related field.
Prior experience leading negotiations.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems seeking guidance when needed.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working in a diverse or cross-functional team.
Manufacturing or technical knowledge (preferred).

Professional Office Environment
Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
