ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY




SUMMARY : This position is responsible for all campus Dining Services Operations, Food Purchasing, Vending, Retail Food Operations, Campus Catering, Resident Hall Board Operation, and coordinating with Kellogg West Dining and Catering at Centerpointe and 26 retail dining locations.



SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):


  • Accountable for the financial success of 27 dining service locations which include a board operation serving over 2,600 residents, 4 contracted lease venues, and campus vending with approximately $18 Million annually in sales.

  • Provides strategic direction for activities and programs, offering innovative responses to changing culinary tastes and preferences of the campus community.

  • Provides vision, direction, and leadership in the management and enhancement of a quality self-supporting campus dining operation.

  • Sets standards, policies, and procedures to ensure high levels of customer service, professionalism, business ethics, communication, and performance of subordinates.

  • Provides leadership to enhance sales and strengthen marketing strategies.

  • Responsible for business and strategic planning, including coordination and implementation of the Dining Services Master Plan.

  • Plans, develops, and implements new dining service venues and operations in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.

  • Responsible for contract coordination, joint review with the Chief Operating Officer, and compliance on Associated Students, Inc., Housing, Franchise, Vending, and Exclusive Beverage agreements, as well as contracts for capital improvements or new opportunities.

  • Develops strategies and implements action plans with the General Manager of Kellogg West to help ensure campus-wide dining and catering services are coordinated and maximized between Dining Services and Kellogg West.

  • Facilitates budget preparation and submission to the Chief Operating Officer.

  • Facilitates coordination of campus engagement programs.

  • Promotes health, safety, sanitation, and security policies at all times.

  • Responsible for reviewing maintenance, custodial, and emergency preparedness programs.

  • Develops and delivers training for managers and supervisors to promote from within and encourage productivity.

  • Maintains open communication between dining service operations and the campus community.

  • Coordinates all unit marketing efforts and annual plans with Enterprises Marketing

  • Maintains Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion efforts as it reasonably pertains to Dining Services operating food services at Cal Poly Pomona.

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in organizing and directing multiple teams and departments

  • Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Versatile abilities and extreme dedication to efficient productivity

  • Must understand the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and lead based on those concepts.

  • Must be able to adhere to a regular work schedule.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Auxiliary Services Professional" (CASP") designation.

  • Master's Degree and strong experience in a matrixed profit and loss environment within higher education.

The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
