Summary
Safran is looking for an embedded software engineer to join the Twinsburg conversion team, where the candidate will be working with other lead engineers on the entire development life cycle for embedded software. The software has a key role in ensuring that aircraft electric power systems remain safe and reliable. In this role, the software engineer uses their knowledge of the embedded environment, the aircraft application, design assurance processes and aerospace industry trends to build reliability into each product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Complete development lifecycle of the embedded software.
•Requirements authoring, reviewing and tracing.
•Software authoring and reviewing.
•Debugging software in an embedded environment.
•Root cause investigation for problem reports.
•Using development tools for analyzing software performance (stack/memory usage, timing margins, structural coverage of verification, etc.)
•Creating test strategies for software requirements.
•Support of investigation for software verification failures.
•Support of audits by customers and government authorities.

Required Qualifications:
•2+ years of combined experience in embedded software development.
•Development with design assurance guidance, such as DO-178 or IEC 61508.
•Familiarity with C language development.
•Experience working with version control tools and concepts.
•Experience with lifecycle management tools, including requirements, tracing, validation and verification, and problem reporting.
•Proficient written and spoken communication, including explanations of detailed technical concepts.
•Experience debugging embedded systems with simulations or within the target.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office.
•Able to sustain software development for projects ranging 4 – 6 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
•A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in electrical, computer, software engineering or computer science.
•Detailed understanding of a variety of microcontroller architectures and operational principles.
•Familiarity with MISRA C standards.
•Understanding of principles of power electronics.
•Able to prepare presentations and lead audits.
•Capable of reading schematics.
•Able to work on the development of electrical power systems for military aircraft used internationally.
