SUMMARY: This position is responsible for special parts orders, including all parts required for capital projects, improvement projects, and those involving technical decision-making. The Parts Room Specialist will also be the backup administrator for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and provide backup support in the parts room. This role requires strong technical skills and logical thinking when making decisions about parts and equipment. The Parts Room Specialist will utilize root cause analysis and trend monitoring to drive improvements in equipment and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality FoodsBackup CMMS administrator must learn all modules in the CMMSRead and interpret parts drawings and blueprints Communicate well with others in all departments and give updates on orders as they arriveRecord and maintain parts purchase records to ensure an audit trail for all transactionsAssist with annual physical inventory of parts roomProvide backup support for the parts room when the Parts Room Attendant is not availableRequest and document bids for parts, ensuring cost savings while maintaining quality standardsFollow company procedures to identify the appropriate vendor for sourcing parts. Ensure that the selected parts meet repair specifications, lead time, and pricing requirementsWork with finance to close purchase orders, ensuring all pricing is accurate before processing paymentsResponsible for all parts ordering related to capital projects, improvement projects, and any orders requiring technical decision-makingAssist with year-end project planning, ordering, and staging in the parts roomUtilize root cause analysis, trend analytics, and failure data to identify opportunities for improvement and to specify new designs or parts to improve equipment performanceObserve and promote safe work practices and proceduresUse and wear safety and protective equipment, as necessaryAttend training to develop and improve knowledge and skillsAdhere to proper cleaning methods, storage, and care of equipment and suppliesTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect employees, equipment, materials, and facilitiesPerform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have GED, high school diploma or higher and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer experience in maintenance or parts room.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Possess computer skills including the use of plant Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and maintenance inventory control software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Possess strong reasoning and logical thinking skills to develop effective solutions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
