Position Overview
As a Senior Digital Electronics Design Engineer, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and verify high-reliability digital electronics for various applications, including processor boards, FPGA and SOC boards, memory applications (such as DDR), and high-speed I/O. As a senior member of the Harsh Environments Electronics Group, you will influence digital hardware architectures and lead electronics development activities, applying sound engineering and project management principles.
Key Responsibilities
• Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Design and complete instruments, including microprocessors, power, and analog components.
• Innovatively solve issues, drive project completion to schedule, and collaborate with other technical contributors.
• Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing and support.
• Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
• Engage with other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions for products.
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction, contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt to changes in requirements.
• Independently perform complex electronic architectures and designs.
• Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on simulation results.
• Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
• Manage tasks with multiple engineers and effectively communicate status to project leadership and customers.
• Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessor, or embedded computing.
• Understanding of design and general computer architecture.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's Degree is preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Additional Qualifications
• Experience with and knowledge of trade space for radiation-hardened parts.
• Schematic capture and board layout experience.
• Experience integrating and debugging embedded systems.
• Ability to perform circuit simulation using HyperLynx and ANSYS.
• Experience with Mentor Graphics PCB design flow preferred.
• Experience with Xilinx or Microchip FPGA/SOC design flow desired.
• Experience in designing for harsh environments as per common commercial and military standards (e.g., RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810) is highly desired.
Other Requirements
• Must be local to the Cambridge office and able to support flexible in-office work. Full-time remote employees will not be considered for this role.
• Active security clearance is strongly preferred. Strong candidates without an active clearance must be able to obtain a secret clearance upon starting this role.
