Job Description:

The Institutional ETF Strategist provides ETF subject matter expertise in support of the US SSGA Client Coverage Group. The role is based in New York, NY or Boston, MA.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive ETF expertise across due diligence, capital markets, and research. The candidate will have a strong understanding of Institutional ETF use cases including but not limited to liquidity management, transition management, and related derivatives. Additionally, this individual will have exceptional communication and presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex investment topics.

What you will be responsible for


  • Be responsible for providing ETF and investment subject matter expertise for SSGA's US Client Coverage Group across the Americas

  • Have significant client-facing engagement across U.S., Canadian and South American client channels

  • Understand the Institutional market as it relates to ETF use-cases

  • Use strong investment merits to enhance the product positioning of SPDR ETF family of ETFs

  • Deliver thought leadership related to ETFs place in institutional portfolios and how ETFs can help deliver on investment outcomes

  • Deep understanding of the SSGA ETF range, competitive landscape, industry trends, and product attributes

What we value

  • ETF capital markets, trading, and/or derivative trading experience

  • The ability to discuss cross-asset investment concepts, as well as have a considerable understanding of portfolio construction techniques and approaches with both cash and derivative instruments

  • A complete understanding of the benefits of the ETF structure and how it functions in the secondary and primary markets

  • A background in listed derivatives and their role in financial markets as well as practical portfolio usage

  • Ability and willingness to travel across the US, Canada and South America

  • Strong communications skills for frequent external and internal presentations.

  • The capacity to develop and sustain strong working partnerships with our marketing, product and investment teams

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of investment experience

  • CFA or CAIA, and/or MBA preferred

  • ETF and/or derivative trading experience preferred

  • Current securities licenses (Series 7, 63, and 24) preferred or the ability to attain

  • Clean compliance and U4 record required

  • Knowledge of Bloomberg API functionality

  • In-depth knowledge of ETFs and competing investment vehicles

  • Excellent communication and written skills

  • Spanish speaking skills a plus

  • Ability to work with and influence internal and external stakeholders

  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a strong team orientation

  • Available for travel 25-50%
