About the Position

We are seeking an experienced and successful Business Analyst (Rail Transit/Transportation) to evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop optimization strategies for projects in the heavy civil infrastructure and rail industries.

This is a long term, full-time, on-site position located in Washington DC.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
• Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
• Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, buy/build, etc.
• Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
• Prepares and documents Functional and Technical Specifications for reporting and data warehouse work.
• Assists with business warehouse/intelligence support and enhancements.
• Develops RFPs and assists in deployment and management of end-user reporting tools and platforms.
• Works with IT and business project teams to understand reporting and data warehousing requirements and proposes solutions.
• Documents and provides knowledge transfer to the rest of the Enterprise Reporting Team for all solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, economics, accounting, computer science, or data science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years experience working as a Business Analyst, preferably in the rail transit industry.
• Previous work experience leveraging technology to identify innovative solutions to business challenges, enhancing operational efficiency and driving business effectiveness.
• Experience identifying new applications of technology to business problems in order to drive operational efficiency and business effectiveness.
• Familiar with industry standard (rail transit/transportation) terminology (including legacy, core, and emerging technologies), business process mapping, and business process reengineering.
• Familiar with relational database and client-server concepts.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).

Preferred Qualifications

• Project management experience and/or credentials.

Compensation Details

The salary range listed for this role is $62-156k annually. The final salary offered is based on multiple factors and is thoughtfully aligned with each candidates level of experience, breadth of skills, total education achieved, certifications/licenses that have been obtained, etc.
