About the Position:


The Technical Manager serves as the technical point of contact for CRL, and represents the company’s interests, directs the team as they work on projects. This person provides the subject-matter expertise and is the point of contact for projects from the industry side.
Crucial to the role is leading cross-functional communication at all organizational levels, including senior management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exemplary leadership, a positive attitude, strong organizational and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and a sense of urgency. They should also possess proven self-directed project management skills and experience with project/product lifecycle activities.


In addition to overseeing program success, the Technical Manager serves as a catalyst for change, coordinating activities according to processes, identifying optimization opportunities, implementing best practices, and enhancing technical management capabilities. The successful candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, navigating evolving priorities with a balanced approach to structured project management and adaptability.


Overall, the Technical Manager plays a key role in driving efficiency and achieving strategic objectives within the organization.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Act as a technical representative for the company when speaking with clients and any other external parties.
     New Product training

  • Works with Product Management to oversee the development of new products or systems from initial ideation to market release, focusing on ensuring technical soundness and the efficient use of technical resources.

  • Understand user requirements for new products and establish criteria to assess this before the product is released.

  • Advise new project development teams on technical strategy and implement methods for tracking project progression.

  • Research and build on existing knowledge of their sector and new developments within it to develop new processes and introduce tools that will lead to innovation and improve quality and reliability. 

  • Advise other company departments on technical factors where relevant. 

  • Collaborate with test engineers to advise on suitable testing protocols.

  • Understanding written and verbal project briefs, and working alongside team members to develop plans, work schedules, and targets.
    Assisting with training of new staff members.

  • Product Group Sales/Outside Sales Representatives/Architectural Business Development (PGS/OSR/ABD) technical product training.

  • Keeping up to date with advancements in the field.

  • Participating in research and development projects.

  • Helping to draw up budgets and allocate resources.

  • Facilitating communication and relations between the technical department and other departments in the company.

  • Working with helpdesks to solve technical problems/technical support.

  • Writing up reports and presenting findings to the relevant parties. 

  • Set and continuously manage project expectations, priorities, and urgency with team members and other stakeholders.

  • Works with Product Team
    o Supports development of case studies
    o Assists with recommendations for targeted marketing campaigns.
    o Publishes articles in industry magazines.
    o Recommendations on website information
    o Reduces Q1's (Quality related returns)
    o Reduces Q2's (Service-related claims/returns)
     

  • Leads Technical Team SME's, developing training programs and increasing skill set.

  • Works with Customers on technical issues.

  • Maintains technical folders used by the PGS team.

  • Enter (Product, Problem, Disposition) PPD’s and communicate results with PGS.

  • Consult with team regarding Online programs, new systems as well as trouble shooting.

  • Pricing configurator development support of new/updates and training of roll out. Work with PGS Director to ensure tool is developed according to the need of PGS.

  • PPD support and follow through on resolving product issue expediting resolution for customer and product affected.

  • Catalog and technical documents approval.


Qualification Requirements:



  •  Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a Technical Management role within the building and construction industry

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI).

  • Proven success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering timely impactful program / projects results.

  • Strong organizational acumen and attention to detail

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills

  • A strong bias towards hands-on involvement and leadership by example. Proactive and result oriented.

  • Team building and collaboration

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical, business, engineering, or other related field

  • Master’s degree or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus.

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000
