POSITION: Assessment Engineer, Service Engineering

JOB SUMMARY
The Service Engineering Assessment Engineer will provide onsite and remote support to determine part acceptance and perform evaluation for use and reconditioning as it relates to operational and installation concerns related to PSM and OEM Compressor, Combustion and Hot Gas Path hardware for Industrial Gas Turbines (IGT) operation. This position will coordinate with Product Line areas to analyze mechanical, materials and engine data to evaluate hardware condition and provide disposition for operation, life cycle and repair.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as first line support and entry point for technical inquiries, product assessments and dispositions related to assembly/disassembly issues and operational distress of PSM and OEM Compressor, Combustor, and Hot Gas Path hardware for a variety of Industrial Gas Turbines.
Provide input to project management to support development of outage and installation procedures and schedules.
Identify, develop and coordinate corrective actions for manufacturing and service induced deviations of components.
Understand and define customer problems/concerns and coordinate with PSM Field Service Engineering, PSM Project Management, PSM Reconditioning Engineering, and PSM R&D Engineering as required to ensure technical goals, commercial obligations and operational requirements can be achieved.
Initiate and support Root Cause Analyses (RCA), product non-conformances, 8D analyses as related to investigations per established Quality initiatives and provide input into process and tools to capture fleet and field issues.
Coordinate and provide technical inputs/disposition into Field Service reports.
Perform inspections and assessments of fielded PSM Compressor, Combustor and Hot Gas Path hardware as required for design life validation / verification, and support of commercial projects. This may include performing borescope inspections of GTs in the field band/or reviewing and assessing borescope results from third parties and customers.
Document and present technical recommendations/findings in technical reports, specifications to both internal and external customers.
Promote and ensure all associates and operations are complying with applicable facility rules & regulations and related company policies & procedures.
Required to carry a company provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
Promote a safe working environment through existing EHS initiatives and the proposal of new EHS initiatives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field or other relevant degree.
Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix
Skills/Experience
5+ years of experience with the design, manufacture and installation of industrial gas turbine hardware.
5+ years of experience working with E/F (or G/H)-Class industrial gas turbine systems and Compressor / Turbine / Casing hardware.
General working knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining, repair technologies and fabrication techniques.
Knowledge and experience performing borescope inspections of E and F class gas turbines.
Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests/requirements clearly and in a timely manner.
Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensures that needs are met.
Effective organization, planning and project management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint).
Proven track record of EHS leadership by example; including personal responsibility to prevent accidents, reward and encourage proactive safety, participation in risk assessment and EHS initiatives, take actions aligned to proper work conditions including business travel, customer site requirements, and overall employee well-being.

Field work and 10% – 50% travel (Domestic and/or International) is required.
