POSITION SUMMARY: The Implementation Specialist provides the highest quality software application training to our clients. The IS supports and trains our clients in various situations related to the learning and use of our products and services. Experienced candidates will be well versed in Infection Prevention and hands on implementation of EHR software. Being an RN or LPN with hospital experience is desirable, however will consider candidate in an ancillary healthcare-related clinical role, such as those in the medical technology field, a lab technologist familiar with medical terminology, testing and processes, infection preventionist and/or someone familiar with infection control hospital processes. Experience using Electronic Health Record software and/or training on Electronic Health Record software is desired.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties:

  • Travel approximately 36 weeks per year to include weekends and holidays when necessary while abiding by Training Services Department Employee Handbook
  • Provide on-site, in person implementation and training of a clinical software product, in both classroom settings and one on one mentoring formats
  • Interacts with clinicians prior to onsite visits, to perform workflow planning and assessment
  • Build out workflows, views and alerts based on workflow needs assessed, which will be used and trained at the onsite trainings.
  • Full understanding of the software GUI, to be able to actively problem solve “on the fly” and suggest solutions to clinician requests, which are within the capabilities of the software.
  • Develops training schedule with topics covered and time expectations prior to onsite training delivery
  • Submits signed, on-site certification documents and reports upon completion of training
  • Provide ongoing follow-up, telephone guidance and support for sites that have been trained, to supplement the DSS Technical Service Desk support.

Other Duties:

  • Delivers product demonstrations to potential or existing clients as well as internal staff
  • Reviews application set up with appropriate staff
  • Understands and evaluates Clinical Workflow Process
  • Responsible for verbal and written communication with clients and documentation of work activities and work processes
  • Participates in internal and external Site Kick Off calls
  • Gathers requirements for workflow process and is involved with the configuration of application
  • Manages and assists customers with the usage of the software
  • Cross train on other products as assigned by Training Director

SECURITY AND PRIVACY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Required:
    • Prior EMR / EHR implementation
    • Skilled in client process and training activities with 100% client focus and strong commitment to following up on client issues until resolution
    • Ability to identify the importance or impact of issues and situations occurring within a client’s workflow process and takes appropriate actions to suggest or introduce alternative processes or resolutions (i.e. workflow process consulting)
    • Ability to effectively organize time while identifying barriers to progress, proposing solutions and setting priorities
    • Excellent listening skills and clear and concise presentation skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PPT)
    • Aptitude for understanding technical processes and the ability to learn new software as needed
    • Hands on clinical experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Desired:
    • Fluent in the terminology used in the technical specialty that the product has been designed to support.
    • Ability to analyze, comprehend and apply information/data

Education:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Equivalent experience or combination of education and experience considered
  • Desired:
    • Professional training in a medical discipline

Certification(s), Licenses:

  • Required:
    • RN, LPN, Pharm D, R.Ph., COA, CMHP (or similar)
  • Desired:
    • Training Focused Certifications

Years of experience in a similar role:

  • Required:
    • 3+ years prior clinical software implementation experience
  • Desired:
    • Prior VA or commercial Implementation experience
