Position Description: The Department of Health Care Policy ( HCP ) at Harvard Medical School is an exciting and uniquely collaborative research environment with an interdisciplinary group of faculty and staff with a variety of complementary expertise harnessed to be at the forefront of high impact findings in critical areas of health policy and health services research.
The successful candidate will be the lead scientific coordinator for the HCP site of the multi-site Suicide Avoidance Focused Enhanced Group Using Algorithm Risk Detection among Service Members at Risk for Suicide ( SAFEGUARD ) project. The HCP site will: develop multivariate prediction models for risk of suicidal behaviors among US Army soldiers based on previous behavioral health assessments and administrative data available for these individuals at several points in the Army career; develop instruments to be used in three experimental interventions carried out at other sites with the soldiers predicted by these models to be at elevated risk; take the lead in analyses to evaluate intervention effects; and collaborate with investigators at other sites in preparing reports of study findings.
The candidate will collaborate with Professor Ronald C. Kessler, Ph.D. (Harvard Medical School), the HMS Site PI of SAFEGUARD , and senior project staff at both HMS and at other project sites in high-level supervision of HCP and Department of Defense (DoD) project data collection, research assistance, data management, and data analysis. This candidate will also write the discussion, introduction, and results sections for scientific papers.
Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in epidemiology, biostatistics, or behavioral science
Strong quantitative skills
Experience in both data collection and data analysis
A minimum of three years of post-doctoral research experience
