The Undergraduate Programs Office in the Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Coordinator of Educational Data. This position is responsible for processes related to undergraduate data collection and assessment within The Grainger College of Engineering. The person in this role develops readily accessible visualizations, reports, and processes to aid UPO student success efforts within the Grainger College of Engineering and its departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop readily accessible visualizations to support student success.
In collaboration with Engineering IT, generate reports and data visualizations to fulfill requests by Grainger College of Engineering staff, Departmental units, and/or programming units within the Undergraduate Programs Office as well as for internal and external audiences and publications.
Maintain curated data set and undergraduate data dashboards.
Create and update undergraduate programs data usage procedures, policies, and documentation to ensure the protection of student data and inform users of the information that is included/excluded in data sets.
Coordinate and disseminate undergraduate student data.
Coordinate closely with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, Assistant Deans in the Undergraduate Programs Office, and Engineering IT to ensure strategic and tactical alignment of data management efforts related to undergraduate programs within The Grainger College of Engineering.
Collaborate with multiple College units (including within the Undergraduate Programs Office, Engineering IT and individual Departments) to manage, analyze, and guide the use of data for assessing and improving the undergraduate student experience in The Grainger College of Engineering using College and Campus performance metrics.
Develop data workflow and collection.
Coordinate with UPO stakeholders and Engineering IT to consolidate forms, advisor input, student surveys and other forms of data/information so that the information is readily available to those who need it. This includes enhancing and further developing UGradRecs petitions, reports, and forms.
Support the data needs of the Student Success Portal.
Develop and maintain data-related processes to support the Grainger Student Portal, Dean's List, Dual Degree compliance, academic standing decisions, honors programs and other Undergraduate Programs functions as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, business, or a related field.
A total of two (2) years (24 months) education, training, and/or work experience in data analytics and/or data science.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with obtaining, analyzing, and visualizing student data at the University of Illinois or another large institution.
Experience with SQL, python, and/or a similar language.
Experience with data analysis using visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Experience analyzing and/or managing large and complex datasets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and little supervision.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Hybrid work options may be available for this position, with the ability to be on-site at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus as needed per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy . Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
