GHD's Midwest Region EDO team is looking to bring onboard a motivated Business Group Leader to oversee the management and expansion of GHD's engineering design practice. As a Business Group Leader, you will be responsible for supporting pursuits of both traditional and alternative delivery public and private projects and will also provide management/technical leadership for the delivery of engineering design projects for our clients throughout the Midwest Region, as well as supporting the broader North American EDO team. This position will report to Regional Operations Manager for the Midwest Region.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced team members to take on a senior leadership role, deepen their impact, and drive innovation across the Midwest region.
Specific responsibilities in this role will include:
Client
Support business development, sales, and marketing with a particular focus on large conveyance clients, while also leading pricing, scoping, and win strategies for new projects.
Project Directorship and/or management of projects related to multi-discipline engineering projects
Build effective relationships with the Business Group's key clients
Direct the technical and production work of project teams, administering contractual aspects of the project, and supporting client engagement
Project delivery following EDO and Quality Assurance procedures
Integrate Advisory and Digital into client solutions
Lead recruitment of new staff
Actively participates in professional and/or industrial organizations to promote the GHD brand
Promote and cross sell other GHD services
People
Collaborate with senior members of the business group, as well as the NA and Regional Market Leaders and Client Sector Leader to achieve excellent business outcomes
Collaborate with Service Line Leaders and Project Managers within and outside the Region on work sharing and business development
Develop and mentor senior leadership within the Business Group and Mentor team members and assess work assignments; provide direction and training as needed to team members
Develop and mentor senior leadership within the Business Group, while also guiding and supporting team members by assessing work assignments, providing direction, and offering training as needed.
Work with Project Directors, Project Managers and project teams to improve job delivery skills within Business Group and other Business Groups
Demonstrate support and compliance with the requirements of the GHD HSE Management system and management participation matrix
Act as Project Manager, Project Director or Design Manager on appropriate projects
Attracts strategic hires for the Business Group to develop the business
Performance
Represent Business Group on the regional Leadership Team and actively participate in meetings
Develop and implements Business Group Business Plan
Sustainable growth of the Business Group's net revenue
Drive financial performance with respect to contribution. Monitor and manage backlog, utilization, DSO, variances, and markups.
Development of job/scope of work packages, budgets, and progress
Managing the allocation of people to projects in agreement with the Project Manager
Manage and mitigate risks within the Business Group
Develop budget and monitor monthly
Support regional initiatives, including new processes, new system rollouts, etc.
GHD Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Environment
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and Project Managers
Ensure technical soundness of work produced by the Business Group
Successful skills & qualifications:
Bachelor and/or Masters degree in engineering or related technical discipline
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in engineering design projects
Previous BGL or Team Leader experience with GHD a plus
Experience developing, managing, and measuring financial performance metrics, with preference to those that can demonstrate some formal training in this area
Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
Strong business development, proposal preparation, and marketing skills
Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines
A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness
