Main Responsibilities
Design and synthesize small molecule targets to drive programs to clinical candidate nomination to meet aggressive timelines.
Use reaction and reagent databases to select effective techniques/routes to maximize productivity and provide solutions to complex multi-step synthetic problems.
Proficient in the use of analytical techniques for structural characterization and able to interpret simple to moderately complex NMR spectra.
Champion new chemistry techniques, reagents and methodology in discovery chemistry and participate in group/lab responsibilities.
Fully understand SAR around own work and the project and able to prioritize work based on emerging data.
Collaborate with other team members to design target compounds that address issues of potency, selectivity, DMPK, pharmacology, safety.
Ability to learn from the literature and meetings to solve problems.
Determine the relevance of patent search results and assess the patentability of new targets.
Actively participate in medicinal chemistry discussions communicating own science in a clear and precise manner and raising issues which positively influence direction of lead series.
Communicate and interact with other staff members in a professional and courteous manner.
Operate in the lab in a safe and efficient manner according to HSE guidelines and adhere to all mandatory company compliance requirements.
Adapt to changes and challenges in a productive and professional manner.
Act as an ambassador for the department and attend appropriate meetings to increase knowledge and stay current with journal and patent literature.
About You
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with minimum 6 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Master's Degree with minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR PhD with 0-2 years post-doctoral work.
Recognized as a technical expert with growing scientific and subject matter expertise and innovative contributions.
Emerging track record as a contributor providing quality science that forms the basis for publications, presentations and patents and involvement in professional society.
