Researcher (Researcher 3) to conduct complex scientific investigations and diverse projects in two shared resource laboratories (DDSR-HTS core and GESR) in the Comprehensive Cancer Center functioning as a specialist or technical expert in high throughput screening and/or functional genomics technologies.
Responsibilities Include:
Collaborates with shared resource Director to develop, manage and implement research projects
Plans, designs, and conducts complex & advanced research
Plans and executes molecular biological (cell-based) and biochemical/biophysical projects with automation
Plans and executes advanced molecular biological and biochemical procedures specializing & providing technical expertise in genomics
Extracts, analyzes & evaluates experimental data
Develops and implements new or revised research methods
Assists Director in research & development efforts of new research projects
Works closely with Director to determine and develop goals of projects
Develops and establishes criteria & research standards to meet goals of research projects
Trains and onboards laboratory personnel
Manages projects for the shared resource users, actively contributes to developing, writing, editing and critiquing research and equipment grant proposals
Participates in developing and establishing working relationships users of the shared resource
Oversees and participates in the appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment
Participates in developing and implementing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Manual
Monitors, oversees and ensures compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines
Provides training of research staff in executing new research methods
Serves as a consultant to other investigators in area of expertise.
Education and Experience
Masters or Doctoral Degree in pharmacology/pharmaceutics, genomics, genetics, cell biology, biological sciences or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
Extensive experience in biological/health science research capacity required
Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred
Experience in core facility preferred; extensive experience planning & developing projects preferred.
Years of relevant experience required: 5-6 years
Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Hiring Range:
$64,300 to 84,550 per year.
