ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Student Conduct and Ethical Development (SCED) is part of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students staff within Student Success. SCED has six (6) full-time professional staff, one full-time administrative support staff, one graduate assistant, and a student assistant. Additionally, faculty, staff, and students serve as volunteers on the University Conduct Board (UCB) to support the mission of SCED. Student Conduct and Ethical Development (further referred to as "SCED" supports the goals, mission, values, and visions of the University of South Florida ("University" or "USF") by promoting responsibility and adherence to the standards of behavior outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. SCED collaborates with the USF community to advocate for a safe environment that promotes personal accountability and supports student success. SCED facilitates educational opportunities through meaningful interactions with students to encourage their academic, emotional, and professional development. The goal of SCED is to create environments that empower students to engage as ethical citizens in a diverse global society.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Assistant Dean/Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development and is responsible for supervising the investigation, adjudication, and daily management of misconduct cases involving student organizations and incidents occurring mainly in non-residential and off-campus areas. Additionally, the role includes oversight of sexual misconduct, Title IX/VAWA, and Title VI cases, serving as a representative on the Title IX/SCED and Title VI/SCED case management teams. The position may also represent the Director at meetings as needed and assist with Clery reporting for the Annual Security Report.

The Associate Director will research, develop, and procure training and professional development opportunities for the SCED staff. This position may supervise an Assistant Director and is classified as Essential Personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of student organization misconduct, sexual misconduct, and student conduct incidents primarily occurring in non-residential and off-campus areas using the conduct database system. This role also includes managing the adjudication of Title VI and Title IX cases. Collaborate with SCED Assistant Directors to assign incoming conduct referrals, investigate various student conduct cases under the Student Code of Conduct, and serve as a Hearing Officer to adjudicate cases and assign appropriate sanctions. Assist in compiling data on student organization
misconduct, non-residential and off-campus conduct incidents, as well as Title VI, Title IX, and VAWA cases.

Supervise an Assistant Director in all facets of their role, offering guidance, constructive feedback, and leadership opportunities.

Collaborate with campus and community partners to deliver essential training for SCED staff and University Conduct Board (UCB) members on compliance with Title VI, Title IX, VAWA, Clery regulations, and other relevant student conduct topics. This
position is also responsible for identifying professional development opportunities for
SCED staff that promote continuous learning and professional advancement.

Represent SCED on the Title VI/SCED and Title IX/SCED case management teams. Provide student conduct information as needed on matters related to Title VI, Title IX, VAWA, and Clery. Represents the Director, as needed at meetings (i.e. Students of Concern Assistance Team, Prior Conduct Review Team, etc.)

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of five years related exempt experience, including two years of experience managing exempt level employees.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:

Experience in managing student and student organization conduct, investigations, and adjudication procedures. Experience managing issues of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct in a university setting. Training and/or certification in Title IX and conflict mediation. Knowledge of student conduct database systems (e.g. Maxient).
