Position Overview:



The Senior Crude Risk Analyst role is a seasoned position within the Middle Office. The primary responsibility entails aiding the Middle Office in preserving the integrity of the trading portfolio through a comprehensive grasp of transactions and their inherent risks. Daily collaboration is expected with fellow Risk Analysts, Senior Risk Analysts, Physical and Financial Marketers/Traders, Schedulers, IT, and Accounting personnel.



Responsibilities:



  • Perform daily valuation of risk and supply books and generate P&L and position reports for crude and intermediates supply, and Derivatives.


  • Generate, analyze, and review daily risk control reports for distribution to management and supply desks.


  • Identify, comprehend, and analyze the risks associated with deals and structured transactions in the portfolio, ensuring compliance with established transactional and portfolio limits.


  • Monitor and analyze the organization's market risk exposure for short-term and long-term strategies/transactions.


  • Address process breakdowns/errors with daily system processes.


  • Collaborate with internal customers including supply managers, traders, risk analysts, accounting, confirmations, compliance, credit, and contracts teams.


  • Assist in determining appropriate methodologies such as mark-to-market, VaR, and accounting reconciliation.


  • Manage the requirements and demands of multiple key stakeholders.


  • Interface with various internal and external audit groups.


  • Support compliance and internal controls activities and assessments.


  • Assist in the ETRM implementation project.





Experience and Qualifications:




Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, General Business, Accounting, or Engineering.


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in crude and products commodity markets and financial derivatives.


  • Proficiency in logistics, encompassing vessel, rail, truck, and pipeline operations.


  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented individual, adept at thriving in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with employees at all organizational levels.


  • Team-oriented with a comfort level in collaborating with diverse teams.


  • Exceptional multitasking abilities, capable of efficiently managing multiple contacts, databases, spreadsheets, projects, and tasks.


  • Office environment compatibility.


  • Advanced proficiency in Right Angle and Excel.





Preferred Education and Experience:



  • 3 - 5 years' experience in Risk Analysis


  • 3+ years of experience with Right Angle.


  • 3 - 5 years' experience in oil refining preferred.


  • Knowledge and understanding of trade book to financial, a plus.


  • SAP (S4 HANA) knowledge a plus.
