To coordinate the daily technician activities of the inpatient areas in conjunction with the Pharmacy Leadership Team. This position will require the performance of normal pharmacy technician duties with a focus on inpatient activities including but not limited to the mixing of IV medications, purchasing functions, inventory control, medication delivery, and performance improvement functions.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duty 1: Performs all inpatient pharmacy technician activities including the compounding of IV medications, purchasing functions, medication delivery, billing, and inventory functions
Duty 2: Assists with associate training and our ongoing competency plan in coordination with the lead Pharmacy technician or the Pharmacy Leadership Team.
Duty 3: Coordinates daily activities with the inpatient pharmacists
Duty 4: Works to reduce medications errors by streamlining workflows, reducing clutter in the department, and following established best practices.
Duty 5: Uses LEAN/Six Sigma performance improvement methods to deliver superior departmental performance.
Duty 6: Checks periodically for outdated medications.
Duty 8: Restocks the pharmacy with medications and supplies. Assists with checking of routine supplies necessary for the operation of the department
Duty 9: Handles requests at the pharmacy service counter. Answers the telephone and records messages for other pharmacy personnel when necessary.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a pharmacy technician training program and registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire
At least 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a clinical setting
High school graduate with demonstrated Math/Science skills
Computer skills required (including Excel and Word)
Ability to perform short jobs and repetitive activities with accuracy
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, stand and walk a moderate amount. Some exposure to heat, cold, bodily injury and toxic substances. Visual acuity required.
Self-directed, detail oriented, leadership skills that promote a positive work environment
Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The associate will be required to walk up to two hours a day, sit for four hours a day, and stand for two hours a day. The individual must be able to lift 35 pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The associate must have good eye/hand coordination and fine finger dexterity. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.
