Another Source’s client, Sabey Data Centers, is recruiting a Data Center Critical Facilities Manager to join their growing team in Quincy, WA.
This position will be responsible for "hands-on" day-to-day operation of a 24/7 data center that includes administrative office space. The facility incorporates state of the art redundant power and environmental systems.

About the Data Center Operations Manager:
As a Data Center Operations Manager responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our data center facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring continuous availability, operational efficiency, and security of our data center services. The Operations Manager leads a team dedicated to maintaining operational excellence, implementing best practices in facilities management, and driving continuous improvement in all aspects of data center operations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operations Management:
Service Availability: Ensure maximum uptime for all data center services. Implement proactive measures to prevent service disruptions and rapidly address any issues that arise.
Facility Oversight: Manage all aspects of data center facilities, including power distribution systems, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and physical security measures.
Operational Procedures: Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine operations, emergency response, and disaster recovery. Regularly review and update these procedures to reflect changing technologies and best practices.
Implement and enforce data center policies, procedures, and standards.
Ensure environmental conditions of the data center are continuously optimal for server operation.
Team Leadership:
Team Development: Identify skill gaps in the team and organize training programs to address these gaps. Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives for team members, and provide constructive feedback and career development guidance.
Workplace Culture: Cultivate an inclusive and supportive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and mutual respect.
Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage professional development.
Resolve conflicts and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Risk Management and Compliance:
Business Continuity: Support the business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with global and local regulations pertinent to data center operations, including data privacy laws and environmental regulations.
Security and Audits: Support regular security audits to assess vulnerabilities and implement necessary security protocols and improvements.
Client and Vendor Relations:
SLA Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with service level agreements with clients. Address any service issues promptly and effectively.
Vendor Negotiations: Manage vendor contracts, negotiate terms, and maintain strong professional relationships to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.
Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Financial Management:
Budget Planning: Prepare and manage the annual budget for the data center, including capital expenditures and operational costs.
Cost Optimization: Regularly review expenses and implement cost-saving measures.
Financial Reporting: Support of financial reporting, highlighting performance against budget, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Project Management:
Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including IT, security, facilities, and senior management, to ensure alignment on project objectives and outcomes.
Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to meet project requirements.
Sustainability Initiatives:
Energy Efficiency: Implement initiatives to reduce energy consumption and increase efficiency, such as utilizing energy-efficient equipment and optimizing cooling systems.
Sustainable Practices: Promote environmentally responsible practices within the team and across data center operations.
Compliance, Security, and Safety:
Ensure the data center adheres to industry compliance standards like ISO 27001, SOC 2, etc.
Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and safety regulations.
Promote and uphold safety protocols, including the proper handling of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or relevant industry experience (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.).
Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining critical facilities/systems and teams.
Demonstrated experience in team leadership and management.
MINIMUM COMPETENCIES
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, without compromising quality of work.
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be detail oriented with the ability to maintain a strong focus on attention to detail.
Advanced knowledge of the English language – excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of Sabey employees and business partners.
Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Strong knowledge of critical environment facility systems (electrical, mechanical, controls, etc.)
Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and vendors.
Must be able to manage risk and resources.
Strong interpersonal and managerial skills – must be able to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, problem solve, and manage personnel.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
