Responsibilities:
Assist in building and managing an accounting team to handle all day-to-day accounting functions of each property in the portfolio including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
Implement best accounting practices and utilize technology to ensure maximum accuracy and efficiency
Create journal entries to account for accruals and recurring transactions that impact a properties balance sheet
Assist with the calculation and collection of property and asset management fees on a quarterly basis
Ensure payment of monthly debt service across the portfolio and record escrow/reserve allocations. When applicable, adjust escrow balances for draws and expense payments.
Comply with lender debt covenants and reporting requirements.
Reflect capitalization and amortization of loan origination and lease acquisition costs and maintain supporting schedules.
Manage Accounts Receivable Process - Review and distribute tenant billing statements, monitor cash receipts, facilitating recurring charges, perform tenant ledger reconciliations, and answer all billing related questions for tenants
Manage Accounts Payable Process - Onboard new vendors into accounting program, verify and reconcile vendor invoices, process payments, properly record and account for all payments
File and pay sales tax for all properties on a monthly basis.
Maintain consistent accounting processes and general ledger/chart of accounts framework across the portfolio.
Record intercompany transactions and payroll allocations via journal entries.
Maintain property management financial document control. Review monthly financial reports from external property managers, where applicable.
Perform accounting requirements related to budget tracking of individual projects.
Perform Ad-Hoc work, as needed and requested.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting required. Licensed CPA preferred.
Current or Previous experience in a leadership/management level accounting position with a real estate company.
Strong analytic skills and an excellent working knowledge or mastery of Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of property management or real estate accounting software is required.
Understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles including knowledge of cash and accrual accounting methods.
Familiarity with commercial leases.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent attention to detail and high standard for accuracy.
Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills.
