POSITION: Director of Student & Residential Life

LOCATION: NDSCS - Wahpeton, North Dakota

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month, benefited position

JOB SUMMARY: The Director for Student and Residential Life provides visionary leadership to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging living and learning environment. This role is responsible for strategic planning, staff development, and initiatives that enhance student connection, belonging, and success while aligning with the mission and values of NDSCS. This position requires a transformative, student-centered leader capable of managing change and building collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This position reports to and assists the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs (AVPSA) in the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's degree in student development, education, higher education administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience, including supervision of personnel, in an educational setting or professional role in a related field.
  • Exceptional judgment, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including high emotional intelligence.
  • Must be approachable, empathetic, and capable of resolving conflict.
  • Appreciation and understanding of various forms of diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Develop data-driven short and long-term strategic plans.
    • Plan and execute varied administrative responsibilities, including strategic budget planning and oversight, high-level logistics management, and ensuring the delivery of outcome-driven initiatives.
    • Navigate complex issues and offer strategic solutions.
    • Manage emergency/crisis situations calmly and effectively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in student development, higher education administration, education or other related discipline.
  • Three or more years of leadership and supervisory experience in student affairs, student development, education, or residential life.

BENEFITS

NDSCS offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes single or family health insurance coverage with premiums paid for by the College - with an effective date for new employees the first of the month following the date of hire. Other benefits include basic life insurance, annual and sick leave, retirement plan, tuition waiver, spouse/dependent tuition discount, and employee assistance program. Optional benefits include life, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending account, and supplemental retirement plans.

SALARY: $70,000 - $80,000 commensurate with education and experience
