Responsibilities
As a Sensor Operator, you will operate LIDAR systems, cameras and other equipment remotely in the field to collect survey data from manned, fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
Must be comfortable operating in small fixed wing aircraft or helicopter for extended periods of time
Must be willing and able to travel up to 21 days at a time
Under the review and direction of the Flight Operations Manager, perform aerial data collection using LiDAR equipment, HD video cameras, RGB, NIR, and thermal cameras
Coordinate daily flights with other members of the flight crew
Troubleshoot sensor problems in real-time and perform preventative maintenance on sensor equipment
Conduct field data checks following data collection to ensure adequate coverage
Operate in remote locations throughout the United States, with little daily supervision
Qualifications
Good communication (oral and written) and organizational skills are essential
Strong computer skills are a necessity – windows, MS office, data handling, organization, and transfer
A passion for troubleshooting problems in the field
Basic knowledge of photography desired but not required
Candidate should demonstrate previous experience with technologically advanced equipment similar in nature to LiDAR, and an ability to quickly become proficient in the use of such technology
Ability to operate independent of daily direction and overcome obstacles encountered during field work
