Epsilon Systems is seeking a full time Habitability Mechanic / Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician II in San Diego, CA.
Summary: The position will provide maintenance and technical support to the customer. Provides technical support of shipboard habitability related air conditioning and refrigeration systems and components as a subject matter expert. Use technical documents (JFMM, Instructions, NSTM's, Military standards, Test memos, Test Standards, Drawings and Technical Manuals) that contain information required to accomplish work. This position will be under limited supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides technical support on Shipboard Habitability air conditioning and refrigeration systems as a subject matter expert.
Assesses troubleshoots, and assists ships' force in the performance of minor repairs, adjustments, and testing on shipboard habitability air conditioning and refrigeration systems including but not limited to:
Galley and food service equipment
Food service refrigeration equipment
Food preparation equipment
Food service dishwashers and garbage grinders
Aqueous potassium carbonate (APC) fire-fighting system
Gaylord system
Laundry equipment
Fan coil units/assemblies
Uses technical documents (JFMM, Instructions, NSTM's, Military standards, Test memos, Test Standards, Drawings and Technical Manuals) to complete work.
Performs functional checks, tests and analysis, fault detection, and formulates required corrective actions.
Utilizes standard mechanic's tools, wrenches, manifolds, vacuum pumps, recovery equipment, micro gauges, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring instruments, fixtures, portable machine tools, various gauges in the repair, assembly, installation and testing of components or sub-assemblies.
Completes assessments and maintenance actions that may include but are not limited to: repairing or replacing equipment and fixtures by using hand tools or power tools.
Disassembles, cleans, inspects and assess parts and components to determine the extent of wear and damage in justification of recommendations to re-use or dispose of assemblies.
Identifies material and parts requirements.
Performs system pressure test and triple evacuation vacuum drop test to validate system for proper operation.
Conducts research and provides drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering technical recommendations.
Assists ships force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
Performs the necessary out briefs to ship's force representatives including ship's officers and supporting personnel as well as briefs to customer management.
Conducts pre and post repair operational tests.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 4 years of work-related experience performing condition assessments, diagnostic inspections, fault isolation and repairs on habitably mechanical and AC&R systems onboard US Navy and Coast Guard ships
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
Possess and maintain valid EPA universal refrigerant 608/609 handling certification.
Sound interpersonal skills needed to interface, coordinate with company personnel, customers, and outside contacts
Ability to pass PQS 301 Craftsmen qualifications
Ability to read schematics and blue prints
Ability to read technical manuals and repair standards
Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions, MRC cards or drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
Naval shipboard habitability mechanical and AC&R experience
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $23.31 - $26.07 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
ADA Notations:
Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways onboard ship
Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud noise
