Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Component Specialist supports new product development and product sustaining tasks. The Component Engineer provides direct daily support to Engineering groups by focusing on sourcing, technical specifications, systems-entry, coordinate & implement custom parts shipping and attend shipping discrepancies.
This position will be based onsite at our Vertiv Thermal Lab - 1050 Dearborn Dr., Columbus, OH 43085.
Responsibilities:
- Provides sourcing support for components and materials for the New Product Development Team.
- Responsible for Bill of Materials creation and cost tracking for Engineering Prototypes.
- Work closely with design engineering group to ensure necessary components arrive on time and meet expectations.
- Keep updated shipping status and deal with Custom local releases and deliverables.
- 5S for new and existing components throughout the lab. Maintain an inventory database of lab resources.
- Work with Lab Supervisor, Test Engineers, Test Technicians, and Development Engineers as needed on daily basis with ordering, receiving, organizations and all aspects related to sourcing components, materials, instrumentation, general supplies, and other misc. lab items.
- Works closely with Engineering team to understand specifications and needs.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in technical field or equivalent.
- Prefer experience with ERP systems such as Oracle.
- Good Excel skills
- Basic working knowledge of mechanical concepts.
- Data-entry systems familiarity & BOM Creation Experience - Oracle, Agile, etc.
- Good planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional Global Development Teams.
- Proficient in English
- Excellent communication skills with a professional attitude towards customer relations.
- Self-directed, good problem-solving skills.
