Description: Job Summary
The Email Marketing Specialist serves a critical role in enabling Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) Professional Education (PPE) to reach educators worldwide with evidence-based professional learning programs. HGSE PPE serves more than 16,000 educators annually in early childhood, K-12, and higher education through online, on-campus, and custom professional development programs to improve educators' leadership and instructional practices.
The Email Marketing Specialist provides end-to-end support for all marketing leads in the department and fulfills the email marketing needs of the entire Marketing Department. This includes building and deploying emails, HTML creation, managing data and lead collection, and offering collaboration and support to ensure seamless execution. Reporting to Programs Marketing Manager, the Email Marketing Specialist ensures that every program in their portfolio benefits from consistent demand generation and enrollment efforts, fully aligned with the HGSE PPE brand and strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing and communications, be a highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable team member, and demonstrate expertise in product marketing, demand generation, and demand capture. They should also possess hands-on technical skills in email marketing, HTML, project management software, and Google Analytics. A successful Email Marketing Specialist will be an agile project manager and self-starter with a creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
Position Description
Email Marketing:
Build email marketing campaigns using SF Marketing Cloud.
Develop email templates and data blocks, ensuring HTML proper coding and visual layout.
Work with UTM codes for tracking and reporting email campaign performance.
Ensure all email communications, visuals, and copy are aligned with Harvard's branding guidelines.
Build and manage data extensions for audience segmentation and targeting.
Data & Lead Management:
Manage leads from multiple sources, including conferences, social media, and purchased lists.
Support the marketing team in organizing and maintaining contacts lead data, ensuring smooth data flow within Salesforce
Collaborate with the Engagement and Marketing teams to track lead progression and optimize conversions
Testing & Optimization:
Perform A/B testing to optimize subject lines, content, visuals, and other email elements.
Test email templates across different devices and email platforms to ensure consistent performance.
Analyze email performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates) and provide recommendations for improvement.
Collaboration & Support:
Collaborate with the design and content teams to create compelling visuals and copy for email campaigns.
Provide support for social media and broader marketing campaigns as needed.
Stay updated on email marketing best practices, trends, and tools to continuously improve campaign effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 3 years related marketing experience
Experience developing and managing campaigns, email marketing and HTML email design, copywriting, and project management.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, planning, and time management skills along with experience in project management applications such as AirTable, Asana or other.
Demonstrated experience developing and conveying marketing messages that are compelling and effective at capturing attention and accurately present the value proposition of a product
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Experience leveraging multiple marketing channels in a coordinated way
Experience moving from general concepts to a thoughtful marketing plan aligned and consistent with brand identity and impact model
Familiarity with inbound marketing, account-based marketing, content marketing fundamentals
Technical proficiency with current email marketing technology (ie: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Pardot, Marketo) and use of CRM (prior use of Salesforce and Marketing Cloud and/or Exact Target is strongly desired)
Technical proficiency with HTML for email, basic understanding of amp script and UTM codes, A/B testing, and reporting analytics (i.e: GA4, Intelligence reports, etc.)
Passion for, experience in, and familiarity with K-12 or higher education
Working Conditions
This is a hybrid position based in MA. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within a Harvard Registered Payroll State, currently including MA, CT, ME, NH, RI, VT, GA, IL, MD, NJ, NY, VA, WA, & CA (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements before employment.
