About the Opportunity
This is an open position with Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [OEPP]
Location: Springfield, OH
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installing, changing, removing and inspecting self-contained single-phase watthour and demand meters up to and including 50 ampere rating and associated equipment on circuits energized not exceeding 300 volts
By-passing loads on circuits without interrupting services
Inspecting installations for evidence of diversion and other irregularities such as foreign and improper connections
Verifying suitability of watthour meters and associated equipment assigned to installations; checking customer's connected load
Making required meter and other service reports
Issuing material charges and credits and maintaining an adequate supply of meters and other materials on the truck
Inspecting, testing, checking, adjusting and repairing all types of single phase, self-contained watthour and demand meters at various loads and power factors
Performing miscellaneous maintenance, assembly, repair, wiring or construction work, as directed
Reporting abnormal conditions that develop during progress of work
Directing and training employees
Performing the duties of Meterman C
Performing other similar or less skilled work
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have acquired a working knowledge of elementary applied electricity covering AC electrical circuits, AC electrical calculations, and the related experimental work, or the equivalent
Must have demonstrated aptitude for and ability in the performance of the duties of Meterman C
Must have acquired a working knowledge of and understand the mechanical and electrical functions of the component parts of single phase watthour and demand meters
Must be familiar with the methods and practices of the department applicable to the work
Must understand the principles of and the practices employed in soldered and solderless joints and the taping of the joints
Must know how to use and take care of the tools and equipment involved
Must be able to make clear, concise and accurate reports and records, as required in the work
Must be familiar with the rules and procedures for testing watthour meters
Must be familiar with the safety and approved first aid and resuscitation practices prescribed by the Company
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
