This position is part of the Information Technology Administration Partnership Program (ITAPP), supporting FSU Facilities on the Application Support Team. ITAPP's mission is to create partnerships with university academic, business, and research organizations to provide information technology management expertise and assistance to help fulfill their missions and achieve their goals. The Application Support Team supports Facilities employees with issues related to various applications used by the department, specifically the AiM iWMS application. Responsibilities This position is part of ITS-ITAPP [Information Technology Administration Partnership Program], which delivers information technology services to the Facilities Department. This position assists the Application Support Manager in providing support for mission-critical software applications unique to the Facilities department.
Assists in maintaining several applications that are unique and mission critical to Facilities, primarily the Integrated Work Management System, AiM. This includes setting up new users, ensuring system functionality, troubleshooting software issues, checking data integrity, and setting up new processes. Assists in the management and troubleshooting of interfaces to these applications associated with various on campus and off campus data sources. Works with departmental and campus partners to streamline or integrate processes into applications as well as ensure day to day operations function smoothly.
Utilizes existing and authors new SQL scripts to update and batch upload data periodically within applications via TOAD. Collaborates with end users to identify needs for reports and then designs and updates those reports utilizing BIRT or other similar applications. Provides training for all levels of users both in person and virtually all of the applications utilized in Facilities.
Documents processes to establish and ensure standardization and continuity of operations.
Manages and assists with mobile device management utilizing JAMF or other similar applications.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes on support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes tools following ITS standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.) Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the AiM application, troubleshooting experience, and ability to effectively communicate technical information. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the AiM application, relational databases, their structure, report writing, and querying. They should have experience communicating with stakeholders, customers, and users to ensure the needs of the department and university are being met with regards to application utilization.
What is a typical day in this position?
Reviewing, updating, and responding to various requests for data from different databases and customers. Data integrity checking as well as manual/automated data uploading are other tasks presented during the day. Troubleshooting automation tasks and providing user level support for key applications will round out a day's work.
What can I expect in the first 60-90 days?
The candidate will learn about ITS, ITAPP, and Facilities and how they all work together to ensure IT availability. They will learn about the various applications and databases unique to Facilities and how they all integrate to ensure smooth operations for the department.
