Position Summary:

The Department of English at the University of South Florida in Tampa is hiring multiple full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Professors of Instruction for a start date of August 7, 2025.

The successful candidates will teach writing in first-year composition and professional and technical writing courses. These hires will contribute to our growing undergraduate major and minor programs in Writing and Rhetoric and Professional and Technical Communication, and to writing initiatives across the university.

Salary is negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in English (with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition or related field) from an accredited institution required; ABD applicants must have degree conferred by appointment start date
• Applicants will have a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching composition or professional writing at the college level

• Two or more years' experience teaching a range of undergraduate writing courses
• Experience in writing pedagogies, including digital and multimodal pedagogies and research-informed approaches to writing instruction
• Experience supporting initiatives in higher education related to writing instruction, such as general education efforts or student support initiatives
